A360 Mobile – New Face, New Tools, New Opportunities!

“What is this new A360 mobile app that Autodesk has released?”

I’m sure many of you have asked this question recently after noticing that indeed we have a new A360 mobile app available in the iOS App Store and Google Play. This post will address that question exactly and will try to explain what you can expect to find in the app today, what can it be used for and also give you a quick glimpse into the future and what’s coming next.

A360 enables users to view and track their entire project’s data anytime anywhere. It combines the most powerful web and mobile viewing technology with a variety of tools to make collaboration and access to data as simple and productive as possible. Whether you’re in manufacturing, architecture, construction, engineering or any other of the industries supported by Autodesk, A360 is the tool for you to turn your data more accessible and solve many of the collaboration issues your company or your team might be facing.

The A360 mobile app completes the web experience of A360 by providing mobile access to the data with a beautiful, powerful viewing technology that enables users to view and collaborate over 100 different file formats on their mobile devices. In addition to the variety of supported formats, A360 mobile will enable you to view both small and huge designs, all through your smartphone or tablet.

Taking A360 with you on your mobile device will allow you to track the activities that are happening in your project at any given time, post messages, reply and comment on ongoing issues and have all your data accessible and searchable. One of the best things about the new A360 mobile is that unlike previous versions of the app, you’re no longer dependent on internet connection in order to view your data or designs. All the data that was viewed when connected, will be available for you to use while there’s no Wifi or cellular signal which tends to be the cases in many field sites.

Ok, so what are the differences between the old Autodesk 360 app and this new A360 app?

Good question! We’ve invested a lot throughout the last year to improve the experience we provide our users through the mobile app. We improved the performance and stability of the app, we added support for more file formats and larger designs, we added a bunch of new tools our users have been requesting for (search, offline access, parts list and more) and we also did a little “face lift” to make the whole app experience more enjoyable. The good news are that we’re not done yet, we are working on a long list of additional features and improvements that we are planning to roll out in future updates of the mobile app including some very popular requests like markups, measuring tools and a few other surprises so keep an eye out for updates and stay tuned. Some of you have also pointed out to us that some of the features that were available in the older app like focal length are not available in the new app. Rest assured that these are all included in our plans and the team is working in full speed in order to close these gaps.

Before we end, there’s one more thing we would like to encourage all of you who had a chance to play with the web or mobile apps to do – please go ahead and share your thoughts with us! We love hearing back from you, whether on things you like or things you don’t or even things that you would like to see added to A360. Our roadmap for A360 is heavily influenced by the voice of our customers so don’t be shy and you might find your request being answered in one of our future updates.
