Let’s take a quick look at the new Section Analysis feature in the A360 viewer. We will start by bringing up a nice 3D model and exploring the basics of how to view and slice your model on the Z, Y, and X planes using this new feature.
First, hover over the new icon until you see the name of the feature. In this case you will see “Section analysis”:
Now click on the up arrow to see the other options.
Starting on from the bottom and working up you have.
Now that we have called out what each of these are, let’s show you what they do. Click on the “Add box” option and notice that you see a box around part of your 3D Model. You can adjust this or just click on part of the model. Everything outside of the box is sliced so that you can view that part of the 3D Drawing.
Now let’s click on the “ Add Z plane” this will cut the model in half in the Z plane. TIP: You can grab the arrow and drag forward or backward to change what is sliced in the 3D Model.
We can do the same thing using the “Add Y plane” You can drag the Y plane up or down to change what gets sliced in the view. Just pull away from the arrow, or toward the arrow to change the view.
And for the last example, we can change the “X plane”. With this3D Model, you can see that it cuts the model in half. As a bonus tip, you can click on the View Cube and the Nav Cube “RIGHT” text to get a side view of the 3D Model. You may want to move the model around on the screen to see this work.
Now go open up your own 3D model and take it for a test drive. Be sure to mouse around and try other options while slicing up your 3D Model.
